Project story

Project Overview

This Jubilee Hills duplex was developed as a layered family residence with a strong sense of arrival and a warm, ceremonial character. Rather than applying ornament everywhere, the design concentrates detail around the staircase, ceiling, pooja room and principal furniture pieces. This creates moments of richness while allowing the larger spaces to remain balanced and welcoming.

Design Concept

The design concept interprets traditional Indian craftsmanship through a cleaner contemporary lens. Carved wood, warm metal tones and stone surfaces bring depth, while controlled symmetry and generous negative space keep the home from feeling visually crowded.

Client Requirements

The clients wanted a gracious duplex that reflected Indian design heritage without appearing dated. They prioritized a distinctive pooja room, an elegant master suite, a memorable staircase and comfortable spaces for extended family gatherings.

Decisions that shaped the space.

The strongest interiors are built through coordinated planning, finish selection and practical problem-solving.

Challenges & Solutions

A duplex needs continuity across two floors without making every room look identical. The solution was to repeat a small family of materials and motifs, then adjust their intensity by space. The staircase became a visual anchor, connecting the public and private levels through consistent stone and wood detailing.

Materials & Finishes

Teak-toned carved wood, granite at the staircase, polished stone flooring and selective gold-toned accents form the main material story. Textured walls and traditional artwork add character, while warm lighting softens reflective surfaces and highlights crafted details.

Space Planning Approach

Public areas were arranged to support gatherings, with clear movement between living, dining and the staircase. Private rooms use a quieter expression of the same material palette. The pooja room and master suite were given stronger visual emphasis in response to the family's priorities.
